A cruise in the Mediterranean

June 17, 2008 by

I know that many of you are on the look out for a cheap holiday, so how about this cruise in the Mediterranean that my husband took in April? The cruise started in Gibraltar where he boarded the ship to sail back to the UK and it didn’t cost him a penny – in fact, you could say it was more of a working holiday.

There were some fabulous sunsets to admire as they left the Mediterranean shores…

and the marine life was better than many an aquarium…

there were plenty of opportunities for adventurous activities…

they even had their own personal trainer…

and if you behaved you got to have dinner with the Captain.

I’m sure that you’ll have guessed by now that this was no ordinary cruise, but one that you can only make as a member of Her Majesty’s forces. The ship in question was a naval vessel making it’s way back to it’s home port of Devonport after an 19 month tour in the Gulf region.

And as the ship arrived in port with the bands playing and flags flying, I’m sure there was many a tear of relief shed on the quayside as the families of those on board welcomed their boys home.

You can read more about their tour here.

And why not check out the Royal Navy blog to find out what these guys and girls get up to while travelling the world.
