Congratulations to Joanne on ticking off another bucket list item. Sometimes it takes a long time to see dreams through to reality but this trip is proof that you should never stop dreaming.

[...] Enjoy the trips your friends made There are plenty of people out there who love to travel but don’t have a blog and chances are some of them are your friends. Why not give them a platform for their travel stories and photographs by featuring them on your blog? If you get the chance to have a chat before you go, you can always explain the type of photographs that would be useful to help you tell their story, so they don’t forget to take that great shot of them at Machu Picchu.
Traveling on your own can be an advantage. Getting invited into people's home is a great experience to get a better feel and understanding of the culture; it has happened to me, too. It's all becomes part of the travel adventure.

Interesting interview. I admire Joanne's courage to travel to Peru by herself. As a man whose been married a long time, taking a trip like that alone would definitely be outside my comfort zone. To hear about a woman who did it is impressive.

It sounds like she was rewarded with some experiences she might not have otherwise had. That's so awesome that the hotel receptionist invited her to dinner with her family. You seldom hear about things happening like that in the U.S.

Yes, you are right, hiking is another great alternative to skiing. And going to Machu Picchu is a very wise choice.

I am glad that Joanne has fulfilled her childhood dream, even though it takes a lot of travelling to get there.

Best wishes to Joanne for her next tip to India.
