A Postcard from Berlin

I’m in Berlin for a long weekend with my daughter, two friends and friend’s mum, Wendy. You could say it’s a bit of a girl’s trip - the boys have gone ski-ing but we’ll be joining them in France later this week, so let’s hope it’ll be a fun-packed week.

Today was a great start, with carefully researched plans which were ripped to shreds in the first half hour when we started walking, found something interesting and went with the flow. Turns out it was the right thing to do and I’ll tell you more about that in a later post.

This photo is me and Wendy taking a rickshaw tour along Unter den Linden taking in some of the other sightseeing highlights of central Berlin. We were in the hippy chic rickshaw and our girls were in a rather more sleek electrically powered one both snapping photos of each other - it was shades of wacky races at times.

The reason we were laughing so hysterically was that the driver had just asked our daughters whether Wendy and I were were sisters, and when he heard that we were not had asked whether they were sisters? Hint - Berlin is known as a gay friendly destination.

We though it hilarious that he assumed we were honeymooners and had visions of a Just Married sign on the back of the rickshaw. What would our husbands back home think if they knew we were running away together!
