the only part of the coast I&#039;ve really explored in depth is Vannes, but that&#039;s a lovely old Medieval city with attractive old streets, restaurants, a Cathedral &amp; plenty of chic shops. The castle area is picturesque but it&#039;s more about admiring the formal gardens as I don&#039;t think you actually go inside the building.

I&#039;d definitely try to take a day trip to one of the islands in the Gulf of Morhiban - we went to Houat &amp; you could make it even more special by staying overnight on some of the small hotels on those islands. Research the ferries that go from Vannes or other towns in advance and book them in advance.

If you like sailing then the coast is ideal with lots of bays and inlets - Carnac is a good base and a busy resort although it should be nice in March but packed in August. There&#039;s also plenty of cycling routes along the coast and on the islands.</description>
