Yes, I’m afraid I’m not so keen as to have a tripod with me at all times, except if I was doing video. I do take night shots hand held with variable results – sometimes they are too blurry, so I try to steady myself and hold my breath and take several – normally there’s one that comes out OK

That is a great picture!

What amazes me is you can get some super night shots with a hand-held digital, where you’d have to use a tripod and a loooong exposure with a film camera.

I do enjoy photographs of the nighttime lights. The blue colors in this are wonderful. I also agree that there is something fun and satisfying about finding the special places in our own towns.

That is a magical scene! It reminds me of the children’s toy, Lite Brite, where you stick tiny light bulbs into a peg board to create pictures. We actually have a Bristol Rennaissance Faire here where the beauty and customs of that era in Bristol are recaptured. I’m afraid it doesn’t look anything like this though! Chicago is really beautiful at night, the view of the skyline is gorgous from many vantage points.
