Visit the Waterpark on Zakynthos Greece – wet and wild fun

The waterpark on Zakynthos (Zante) could be the place for a day out. Especially if you’re looking for a change from the mini-golf, the poolside snack bar and the fluorescent pink lilo in the pool.

This is not for lovers of the traditional, unspoiled Greece. But, if you have older children or just love the adrenaline rush of a water slide then this could be a good day out for you.

Activities for all ages

The water park is found at Sarakinado and appears to be well organised. They offer 5 or so major slides, a lazy river and a shallow Octopus lagoon for little children.

The park is all outdoors and opens from May to October. I’m not a connoisseur of water parks myself but there was plenty of room for me to relax. I set up on a sun-lounger in the shade of an olive tree.

I tried to ignore the boom, boom, boom of the music. There are several snack bars, but if you want to keep the cost down, there’s no problem you taking in your own snacks and bottled water.

The cost was 24 Euros for over 12s and 16 Euros for under 12s. Perhaps an expensive treat for a family. There was plenty to keep our teens happy for a few hours.

I think it might be a waste of money for younger children who would be just as happy by the pool or beach. If you don’t have a hire car like we did, there are some local or tourist buses that will take you there. Look out for the posters around your resort.

If water parks are your thing, get on your bikini, slap on the factor 50 and enjoy going wet and wild!

P.S. this post was for the service of visitors to Zakynthos with bored teenagers. Kids of this age may not share the enjoyment of olive groves, authentic tavernas and blue fishing boats.
