Travel the world with Banksy in Bristol
August 28, 2009 by admin
I loved, just loved the Banksy exhibiiton at Bristol City Museum. The queues have stretched right down the street from dawn to dusk, people have been flying in from all over, but it was worth it. Let’s hope they take the exhibition somewhere else soon, so the rest of the world can enjoy. I’ll post a few more photos soon, but here are some of my faves with a travel theme.
I hate Mondays – a homage to Sir Bob
The girl with the apron, could this be the new Mona Lisa? – don’t you think her eyes follow you around the room?
Easyjet is everywhere now you know!
Was this me in my rickshaw in Berlin?
Oops, was that a waterfall?
The photographers were out in force – I feel sure you’ll see a book, postcard or poster in a shop near you soon. This was iconic stuff. More photos coming soon.

Amazing stuff – I’ve never heard of Banksy (am I uncultured?) but I love the whimsical nature of this exhibit.

Classic, simply classic! As much as I detest lines, I wold have stood to get in to see this!

The middle one–with the billboard–is a classic! I don’t know about EasyJet, but the picture to me certainly seems to be a pretty universal comment on the way billboards pretty much obliterate the scenery.

This exhibition could be called the “Creativity Exhibition”. Now I want to imagine a famous painting and see what I could do with it to make a statement. Fun stuff!

I like the contrasts!

The girl with the apron next to the 18th century man. Perfect contrast and compare.

What an intriguing exhbit1 I especially like the Sir Bob Geldof tribute. I hope they bring this to Chicago!

@ Wanderluster
Surely everyone has heard of Banksy, at least if you come from Bristol – he really is the local hero but he guards his anonyminity closely. He could have made a packet from this exhibition but he chose to do it free for the people of Bristol and beyond.
