@ Lily
If I travel to more remote destinations, I always take a selection of family photos - I've found it's a great ice breaker when you meet people, especially if you can't speak their language.

I never have even thought of bringing food from home. I do try and bring spices back with me depending on where I travel.

I do like to bring tea bags with me. It saves from the expensive markup at many airports when hot water is usually free. I drink a lot of tea during the day so it helps tide me over until I get to my destination.

I absolutely do not bring food from home! Usually its the other way around - i travel out with a half-full suitcase and come back with purchases aplenty, much of it food...oh, and i always bring my trusty cork screw. always comes in handy.
