My cool thing No 4 from the town of Nuoro in Eastern Sardinia can be taken literally as it’s a Gelateria or Ice Cream shop that we found.
We’d been passing the hot afternoon with our picnic in the main Piazza Vittorio Emmanuelle, in the hours between 1 and 4pm when all the shops close in Sardinia. I was all for a shady bench in front of the Duomo but my children decided that we would place ourselves strategically in the square close to the local Gelateria called Peter Pan.
It turned out to be a good choice as they had lots of delicious flavours and the man serving us chatted to us in English and gave us extra big scoops. In Sardinia we normally got 2 scoops in a cone for €1.50-2 and had fun choosing the most unlikely combinations, such as Snickers with Coconut or Mozart (Marzipan & Chocolate) with watermelon.
My mouth’s watering even now as I look on the pictures, but sadly I’m now on a strict diet to get rid of the extra pounds from my daily gelato.
