Giveway – a free souvenir from Greenwich in London – video
September 20, 2009 by admin
I’m giving away a souvenir of my trip to Greenwich in London to one of you – I do hope you like it.
It’s a gorgeous 100% Fairtrade Cotton shopping bag, designed and made in England, with a design of the Queen’s House at Greenwich on the front. I found it in the Gift shop of the Royal Observatory in Greenwich and I don’t believe you’ll find them just anywhere. If you’re like me, you’ll be cutting down on the plastic shopping bags and it’s handy to have an attractive alternative so you can do your bit for the planet.
If you can’t see the video above, view it on my Youtube Channel
You can read about all the great things to do on a day trip to Greenwich, on some of my previous articles, and most of the attractions are free. Definitely one to do when you’re visiting London.
Watch my video of A river trip up the Thames to Greenwich in which you can see some of the major London landmarks from the river, for little more than the price of a tube ticket, if you use the commuter riverboat service. It’s a really fun things for families as you can see a lot with the added excitement of being on the river.
Read about some of the things you can see on your Free day out in Greenwich, such as the amazing murals in the Painted Hall and the gorgeous Chapel at the Royal Naval College, The National Maritime Museum, where you can see the costume worn by Admiral Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar where he was killed and brought back to lie in state in Greenwich, see the portraits and painting in the Queen’s house, and climb the hill to the Royal Obervatory at the top, where the lines of longitude and latitude start. It’s amazing that all these things I’ve mentioned are free!
Read about a previous River trip to Greenwich where I show you all the sites you can see from the river along the way.
If you’d like to enter the draw for these souvenir bag, all you need to do is leave a comment at the bottom of my blog post and in a couple of weeks I’ll draw one of the names at random, and send the bag to you wherever you are in the world. Also, if you have any tips for thing’s you’ve enjoyed in Greenwich or London, I’d love to hear them.
Update 21 Oct 09 – This draw is now closed. The lucky winner is Camels and Chocoalate, who was chosen by the untechnical (but fair) method of asking my daughter to choose at random a name written on a scrap of paper. Many thanks for your interest.

What a great idea! I love the quietness of Greenwich – you feel you can breathe there. One of my favourite treats is to have lunch at the greeenwich market on a Su day – so much world food!

Beautiful bag! I don’t know what it is about art in London–but it all has this sort of funky element to it like this design here that just makes it so darn appealing! Want!
